If the timing chain was installed incorrectly and somehow slipped a cog, that could seriously damage the valves. Have you checked to make sure the valves aren't damaged?

Also, I'm confused on exactly what "nut" you're talking about. There is no accelerator "cable" attached to the firewall. Are you talking about the hand throttle?
