Please help me through my valve adjustment project

Hello All,

I'm in the middle of checking and adjusting the valve clearances on my 88 Grad, and I would be very grateful for some opinions and coaching.

I don't feel real comfortable with this job, so I'm trying to go slowly and carefully.

First, here are the clearances that I measured:

Exhaust:

1 - 0.017

2 - 0.008

3 - 0.016

4 - 0.016

Intake:

1 - 0.015

2 - 0.015

3 - 0.015

4 - 0.015

I have already taken out the exhaust cam and measured the shims, Number 2 cannot be tolerated so I will adjust them all.

However, is it worth removing the intake cam for 0.001 inch ? I would really prefer not to take that cam out if I don't half to. It's not that I'm lazy, but if I don't take out the intake cam I've cut the things I can screw up in half Additionally, I always feel like there is a good chance to introduce dirt and grime into these close tolerance areas, so I would prefer not to even open it up if I don't need to.

Finally, before I loosened the chain tensioner I took a video of how the chain was tensioned. My guess is that this is a little bit looser than idea, but nothing to worry about. I'm asking so that I can better gage how to tighten it when I reassemble everything.

And, just for the heck of it, here is where things sit right now:

Thanks for any help !!
