I had the same problem too. I was keeping my distance from the car infront of me, but the guy behind me was "all out" on the warm up lap. He passed me on lap 1 and held me up the whole time.

This doesn't happen very often, I think it's mainly because of the amount of cars that turned out for this event and the fact that Buttonwillow is a tight track. At Willow, less cars usually show up which means more clear timed laps and more space to spread out.
