I've never been done in a speed trap, 18 years of driving on three continents, nothing, zip, bupkis.

I must say NSW is way more civilized for speeding than QLD, drove the ALFA down as far south as Ballina the other week. In NSW the cops warn you in advance as to where the speed cameras are, with huge signs. Here in QLD we have mobile random speed cameras mounted in Police 4WD's. You never know where they will be, usually pretty easy to spot if you know what to look for though. Amazing how many people don't know.
By the way, I found an Awesome driving road on that trip. South of Rathdowney (which is still in Qld at the back of the Gold Coast) there is a road called the Lions road, it is a scenic road that the Lions club pays for the upkeep. Anyway this road is great, hilly, narrow tight corners, plenty of hairpins and single lane wooden bridges. Very European, reminded me of the Yorkshire dales actually (another great driving area). Anyway, the road ofically finshes at the QLD/NSW border at the Border Ranges National Park, but from there on the road is through Rainforest and backwoods farm country, with plenty more single lane bridges and curves. Eventually you hit the main road for Kyogle again and then its back to the Pacific Highway.
Well worth the detour if you are heading to Brisbane or going back to Sydney via the pacific highway, especially in a nicely sorted 105
